Terms of use

1. Agreement
By downloading or using HiAn you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. This is an agreement between you and HiAn ("we"), not with Apple.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use HiAn for your own non-commercial learning on Apple devices you own or control. The app, and the curriculum, recordings and illustrations inside it, belong to us or our licensors. You may not extract, redistribute or resell the content, or use it to build another product, dataset or model.
3. Free tier and subscription
A substantial part of HiAn is usable without paying. A HiAn Premium subscription opens the rest of the curriculum.
- Length: one month or one year, whichever you choose.
- Price: shown in your own currency inside the app before you buy, and set by your App Store region.
- Payment: charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal: the subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Renewal charge: taken within 24 hours before the end of the period.
- Cancelling: any time in Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the period you already paid for runs out.
4. Refunds
Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases under Apple's policy — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, but tell us what went wrong and we will help.
5. Accounts
An account is optional and exists only to back up your progress and carry it to a second device. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure. You may delete your account from inside the app at any time.
6. About learning outcomes
HiAn is a learning tool. It does not guarantee any particular level of fluency or exam result. The curriculum and culture notes were written and reviewed by native speakers, but language and custom vary by region, family and generation — for anything that matters, check with someone who actually knows.
7. Changes to the service
Features and content change between releases. We will not put material you have already unlocked behind a further charge during a subscription you have paid for, and if we have to withdraw a paid feature we will do something reasonable about the remainder of your term.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is" and we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages. Our total liability will not exceed what you paid us for HiAn in the twelve months before the claim.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Consumer rights you have under mandatory local law are unaffected.
